One of the key highlights of the new Huawei Mate Pro 30 is a video feature ultra-slow-motion new. Prior to this, the highest frame rates we've seen so far on the smartphone is the Xperia XZ2 that can shoot 960fps in 1080p resolution. Now Huawei changing things up to eleven with crazy 7680fps slow-mo.
In Mate Pro 30, you now have several options ranging from slow-mo 4x (120fps), 32x (960fps), 64x (1920fps) and 256x (7680fps). Here is a sample video of the steel ball landed to the plate colored powder:
The lighting in the demo booth was quite adequate but we find it impressive that no flickering light in the recording. Interestingly, the device uses an ultra-wide 40MP camera by default to take the shot. To make it easier to trigger the slow-mo, you can use the motion detection feature automatically where it will start recording in ultra-slow-mo if an object into the frame. A full clip generally lasts about 35 seconds.
Do note that the device can only record in 720p HD resolution 7680fps. If you prefer to capture the higher 1080p resolution, you must switch to 32x (960fps) slow-mo mode.
