Fitbit

Fitbit has grown since tracking basic fitness to move to smart watches with models such as the unfortunate Ionic and its much improved successor, the Versa. After some tempting leaks, the company now officially announces its latest smart watch, the Versa 2, along with a premium fitness subscription service and the Aria Air smart scale.

We have already known enough about Versa 2, and now it is completely official. The main feature is the integration of Amazon Alexa, which allows you to start and stop exercises, turn the lights on and off at home and do almost everything Amazon's assistant is capable of. To help you stay discreet, Alexa will respond silently on the screen by default. The Fitbit Pay integration gives you another contactless option with Google Pay to buy your purchases during your career.

Speaking of software, Versa 2 natively integrates Spotify. Unfortunately, it seems to be nothing more than a remote control. As far as we know, you cannot download Spotify content directly on the watch, the music still plays on your phone. On the other hand, you can download playlists of Deezer and Pandora stations, so if you are using these services, you are ready to get started.

Together with the improved automatic tracking of the exercise, the portable device provides us with advanced sleep functions. Smart Wake sets a variable alarm that is activated when you are in sleep mode and the sleep mode completely turns off the screen and notifications to not bother you, whether you are asleep or not.

On the hardware side, the screen now uses AMOLED technology on the LCD of its predecessor, which should improve battery life and contrasts. As a novelty for Fitbit smartwatches, the Versa 2 also offers an optional screen always on with a battery life of two days. If you are not using that mode, Fitbit boasts that the battery should last more than five days, although any serious use is likely to decrease that number quite a bit.

Versa 2 will arrive in stores on September 15 worldwide, with pre-orders from now on. The regular version will be available for $ 200, while the special edition with a woven band and better materials will cost $ 300. As always, there will be a ton of third-party accessories and bands available for the Fitbit device.

Fitbit Premium

Fitbit Premium provides a selection of custom workouts accessible through the Fitbit application on Android (and iOS, if that's your problem). At the launch, the service offers nine health and fitness programs that help you achieve individual goals. These include classic courses that focus on weight loss, better sleep, calorie counting and running, but also more specific things like understanding your salt intake. The courses are accompanied by training plans, relaxation tools, recipe suggestions and tips and tricks, as well as "thousands of dynamic video and audio workouts".
Along with the free sleep tools provided by Versa 2, Premium members will get an even deeper insight into their day / night pace. Similar to Sleep as Android, you can see when you entered what phase of sleep and how your heart rate compares to normal.

Some time after the initial launch, subscribers will be able to participate in adaptive and collaborative challenges and games that encourage them to move more. Fitbit is also looking to introduce a personal training service in 2020 as part of the Premium subscription that helps people who want to take weight loss seriously or have special health conditions, such as diabetes.

Fitbit Premium launches this September in selected markets, with monthly subscriptions available for $ 10 and annual commitments for $ 80.

Fitbit Aria Air

The Aira Air comes in black and white. Fitbit says it will be available for pre-orders starting at the end of September and should start shipping worldwide in October, which will cost $ 50.
