Reuters quoted two anonymous sources claiming knowledge of the Huawei ban, according to whom the US Department of Commerce would extend the 90-day suspended sentence for Huawei to 90 days.
This will allow Chinese tech giants to continue to buy U.S. technology beyond the first grace period that ends on Monday, August 19.
The situation surrounding licensing, which has become the main bargaining chip for the United States in its trade negotiations with China, remains volatile and the decision to continue the suspended sentence of Huawei may change ahead of Monday's deadline - Reuters
But the report said that US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping were expected to speak later this week on the topic of Huawei.
Although there has not been an official stance on this matter from either side, it will be a waiting game, with Commerce Minister Willbur Ross limiting his comments on the topic to: "On Monday I will gladly update you."
